I am going to give a review of Dunbar Domains, the web-host of LM-BLOG, for all of you blogger’s who use blogger.com or similar websites. Hopefully this will encourage you to move from your host and go onto paid hosting.
Dunbar Domains is a fully UK based hosting company who have negotiated a deal with one of the largest hosting companys in the UK, who will remain anonymous, to share their brand new top class data center. Dunbar Domains have their own area within this data centre where their servers are stored and maintained.
They have recently upgraded their servers to some of the latest and greatest they could get for their customers check out the specs below.
* Dual Quad Core Intel® Xeon® 3.16GHz with 2X6MB Cache
* 8 GB RAM
* Dual 136 GB SCSI Drive (for the operating system)
* RAID Mirroring (for the operating system)
* Dual Power Supplies
* Dual Gigabit Network Adapters
They also run on the latest version of Redhat Enterprise Linux.
Customer Support
The support that you get from Dunbar Domains has stayed consistently high over the last year that I have hosted various websites with them. The reply time recently has sadly got longer but all my queries are answered within 8 hours. Most issues such as server downtime, which I have never seen, are resolved or being resolved before I manage to post my support email.
They answer all emails in simple terms so that everyone can understand it and also make it their main objective to make you feel valued. If you are having trouble installing something a staff member will always try to run you through the installation or do the installation. However recently they are cutting back on free installations due to the massive leap in customers they got through hosting a well known PTC website.
Value For Money
In my personal opinion Dunbar Domains is great value for money as they are fully UK based, support local businesses. Also because they have a great support team who are always trying to help you as quickly as possible.
The hosting itself is also very good and has one of the best control panels i have ever seen.
With virtually no downtime they are also one of the best value hosts.
Another major plus point of Dunbar Domains is that they do not offer more than they can supply. They do not offer 100+ Gigabyte of storage with a hosting package as that would not be cost effective and all other businesses who offer such storage never actually give you it as they know people only use about 30mb for an average website.
Usability
All of the Dunbar Domain control panels and one click install systems are all very simple to use. All main features are shown clearly and any you are not sure of are named so that you can figure it out.
The control panel itself allows you to show or hide parts of your menu, meaning parts you dont need are not cluttering your page. It also allows you to reposition all of your menus so that what you need is at the top and what you do not need is at the bottom.

“A good year or so ago I approached the idea of setting up a free service for speedway users to “blog” their feelings. Dunbar Domains were very quick to offer all the help and support that I needed and during our introduction period offered ideas for howe to advertise.
They currently sponsor us by giving us reduced rates and any support we need (setting mail systems up etc) for low or free prices.
For anyone going out for a new or improved website I reccommend them as really there are no issues, apart from some tickets taking a while to be fully answered and fixed.”
