Turn Internet Explorer into Google Chrome

As the battle between Google and Microsoft continues to wage, Google have once again pulled another trick out of the bag to undermine Microsoft. This time in the form of an add-on for Internet Explorer.

Users can download and install the plugin into their Internet Explorer installation which essentially hands over the rendering of the page to the WebKit engine underpinning Chrome.

It works on a similar principle to the widely-used IE Tab plug-in for Firefox, which uses Internet Explorer to render pages that are incompatible with the Mozilla browser.

The search giant claims this will lead to improved browser performance for IE users, thanks to a faster JavaScript engine, support for HTML 5 and better CSS handling.

Visitors who turn up to Chrome Frame-tagged sites in other browsers, such as Firefox or Safari, will continue to have the page rendered by the native browser.

Search Engine – Result Test – Who is the best ?

Welcome to the second edition of my Search engine posts. This version will look at the top four search engines in further detail to further help us on our way to deciding which Search engine is the best to use. Just to remind you the search engines in question are Google, Yahoo, Bing and Ask

The test which I will be carrying out in the post is all based around how fast the search engines retrieve their results and how many results are retrieved.

However the number of results can be looked at as being a little irrelevant at this current point, it will be further looked at in our next post which will look at how well search terms are analysed and results provided from these searches.

Search Engine – Load Test – Who is the best ?

Okay as promised here is my comparison of Bing and the other leaders of the search engine world. I had hoped to do a top ten search engine comparison but after realising the top 4 had a combined market share of 99% I chose to do just a top 4comparison.

Bellow are the 4 search engines and their market shares as at August 2009.

Google ... 70.29%

Yahoo ... 16.96%

Bing    ... 9.44%

Ask     ... 2.37%

I have chosen to show the top four so you can really see just how much of a difference there is between rank 1 and 4.

Okay the results of my load test were really what I expected to see. Google being the fastest loader and Yahoo being a much slower loader and coming in last.

Watching GOOG shares

Okay well the reuters analysts say that now is a great time to buy shares in Google Inc (GOOG). As I sadly cant afford to do so I have decided to instead watch them.

I will add a small report every weekend on what it finished that week (possibley daily in this report also).

I will say I had bought 10 shares in Google Inc and see how they do throughout the year hopefully seeing that at the end of the year I would have made much money :)

GOOG stands at $321.32 at the moment (closed markets)

So 10 shares in GOOG would cost $3212.20*.

Now I will analyze each and every week, if possible to see how I am doing. Hopefully well as Google Inc seem to be slowly beating down Microsoft (MSFT) who are currently sitting at $20.33 per share ( i may add a little on how they are doing every so often)
