LM-BLOG Simple Yet Good

Back with many improvements

As you all knew I was leaving on Thursday to go on a well deserved bre

ak to the download music festival. I returned late yesterday and did not post yesterday.

As I first logged in upon return I was notified that my WordPress installation was now out of date and I should upgrade to version 2.8.  This as always posed a huge threat to the site as upgrade installs sometimes wipe out the entire site.

A full backup was then taken (having a much larger database than I expected) and then a manual upgrade took place. The upgrade went perfectly which is what I had wanted and I was able to go straight back to work on the site.

A new feature
The 2.8 upgrade also seemed, to me, to be the best possible time to finally make a mobile version of LM-BLOG.

New iPhone and OS next week!

Well this is my first post and I thought it would be a great way to open with the new iPhone model and the new iPhone OS that is launching next week. I also would like to apoligize for me taking so long getting this together and I hope to be posting much more frequently.

With Apple promising over 100 new features in the 3.0 OS I feel that the new model is underfeatured. Its key new features are an improved camera with auto-focus and the capability for recording video at 30 fps, a built in compass, voice control and much improved speed and battery life.

Now Apple are saying that the current iPhone 3G hardware is not powerful enough to record at this quality which may be true but we do know that it can easily record video if it is jailbroken. Now the people who wrote the video recording app don't even have as good access to the iPhone as Apple's own software team.

New Android Phones

Google crank up the pressure with the launch of their latest android phone.android

HTC has unveiled its Magic smartphone at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The handset is the first Android mobile phone to run on Vodafone's network, and is planned for a spring release.

Like T-Mobile's G1, the HTC Magic bucks typical design trends and is tablet-shaped. However, unlike the G1, it has no slide-out keyboard. HTC and Vodafone said that being based on Android will give the phone superior internet capabilities, as well as a platform engineered for personalisation and the use of feature-rich applications.

"Delivering an unbeatable mobile internet experience for our customers is a priority for Vodafone, so we are very excited to be introducing our first Android-powered smartphone in the spring," said Patrick Chomet, global director of terminals at Vodafone.

New phone features ‘baffle users’

The complexity of modern mobile phones is leaving users frustrated and angry, research suggests.

Some 61% of those interviewed in the UK and US said setting up a new handset is as challenging as moving bank accounts.

Compiled by mobile firm Mformation, the survey found 85% of users reporting they were frustrated by the difficulty of getting a new phone up and working.

Of the 4,000 people questioned, 95% said they would try more new services if phones were easier to set up.

Mformation spokesman Matthew Bancroft said users were frustrated by having to call an operator or look online for help.

"There is an enormous range of things modern phones are capable of doing but the paradox is that many people are not using these capabilities," he said.

Of those questioned, 95% said they would be more likely to use new features if the initial set-up were easier.
