Okay well the placement of your ads on your website is very very important, so is when you place them on your blog. There is much debate from people on when you should or where you should.
I will give yourself my own feelings on the matter and well what I am sure are your own thoughts as well. There are so many factors affecting your decision, externally and also internally. You will make the decision soley on your own thoughts but hopefully this will aid your decision making.
When to add them to the blog?
You will most likely wish to start getting the money out of the blogĀ but first of all I am going to point a few reasons to wait.
If you wait for your website to gain traffic and returning visitors then you will first and foremost gaurantee that they will be looking at your content rather than your ads. Storming straight in and putting ads in before you show to your visitors that you have valuable content will mean that they are less likely to focus on your content.
So just waiting a few weeks to get regular visitors can make all the difference for your blog. You will make the same amount of money but you will get more visitors, you will get much more visitors returning and hopefully word of mouth will promote your blog even further.
An initial loss may be made but this is almost guaranteed to be turned over very quickly.
Where to put them ?
This is again another major factor of how well your site will do and how much money it will make from its ads. You obviously want your ads somewhere that is easy for your users to notice but not somewhere where they will have to fully take focus off the article they are reading.
If you are using a wordpress system then I reccommend placing an ad in the top right of your articles page, just like on my blog, and then again one just above the post comments box.
These are both areas with a high coversion rate and they also both blend quite will with the content around them.
I personally also feel that on the home page it is worth having a skyscraper ad in the menu area (normally the right hand side column). This gets an okay conversion rate and is just helping to maxamise space usage.
Will do another blog for website ad placement and also some tutorials for how to edit wordpess themes to work with our ad placements.
