Search Engine – Load Test – Who is the best ?
Okay as promised here is my comparison of Bing and the other leaders of the search engine world. I had hoped to do a top ten search engine comparison but after realising the top 4 had a combined market share of 99% I chose to do just a top 4comparison.
Bellow are the 4 search engines and their market shares as at August 2009.
Google ... 70.29%
Yahoo ... 16.96%
Bing ... 9.44%
Ask ... 2.37%
I have chosen to show the top four so you can really see just how much of a difference there is between rank 1 and 4.
Okay the results of my load test were really what I expected to see. Google being the fastest loader and Yahoo being a much slower loader and coming in last.
Over ten loads using an inbuilt timer I found that Google on average loaded in 0.21 seconds on my computer with Bing a close second at 0.32 seconds. Next came Ask with an average load time of 0.88 seconds and last was Yahoo which on average took 1.85 seconds to load.
Here is the full loading table so you can see results from the full tests. As you will notice load 1 is always much slower than the rest but has been left in as this will usually be your time from your single load.

So if you are in a rush to get onto the site and get to what you need you appear to be best using Google. However their are many other aspects of search engines which I will be testing over the next few posts to see who is really the best.
Next I will check to see how fast it loads on simple search results. Next will be to analyse who gives better results for certain key words. Keep tuned over the next few days to see these results.Related posts:
