Entrecard Upgrades
Okay well a day late on my promised return, I would like to apologise for this. I have however got a post today that is mostly quotes but also includes a fair amount of my own thoughts and opinions. This post will hopefully have a follow on post in about a week so please keep tuned.
Entrecard, recently aquired by Ziprunner, has been undergoing numerous changes over the past month. Some, most, of these changes have been a good thing however some have been not so good. A recent release stated the following :
Hi Entrecarders!
Thank you for your patience. The Entrecard team is excited to announce several new updates to Entrecard. We have read your feedback and hope that these changes will answer some of the concerns you may have had. These changes include:
1) Login/Logout Problem
We have received reports from a handful of users regarding problems with logging in and logging out of Entrecard. Please note that this bug has been fixed.
2) Auto-Approving Advertising Requests
For your convenience, we have added the option to automatically accept all advertising requests. You can enable this option by clicking the checkbox for “Accept all Entrecard ads automatically” under “Advert settings” in your dashboard. This way, your Entrecard account will run on “cruise control” and you will be able to earn credits without the hassle of accepting and declining every single advertising request. Because we carefully screen each and every blog that joins our network, you can be assured that the ads served on your widget are family oriented.
3) Advertising Directory
There have been a number of concerns about blogs in our directory that do not have a widget. We have completely cleaned out our advertising directory and only blogs with the Entrecard widget are listed. This will ensure that your hard-earned advertising credits do not go to waste. You will no longer have to worry about spending credits on a blog that does not have a widget.

I am glad to see that they have began to fix technical problems that have been affecting the users. In my eyes problems in login departments totally put me off the use of any system. If they cant get the start right how can they get the rest right ?
I am also happy to see they have an auto approve system on the network finally. I accept all sites and ads onto my page so I have no concern about accepting. I was always slowed in my progress by waisting a minute or two going through ads and accepting them. Along with a clean Ad Directory this is an awsome set of updates, I can finally click "buy ad" without worrying at all.

Hi everyone,
We hope that you have been pleased with Entrecard’s progress. The management team has been working hard to improve Entrecard and we thank you for your patience.
We have noticed that the total number of Entrecard credits in the system has grown rapidly. This has been due to the fact that more credits are being created than credits are leaving the system. If this inflation continues, Entrecard credits will be worth less and less. To ensure a stable credit economy and reduce the outstanding credits, Entrecard will no longer give Entrecard credits to the person receiving a drop. In other words, instead of awarding 2 credits for each drop (one to the dropper and one to the blog site owner), only 1 credit will be given to the dropper. This change will be effective September 1, 2009 and will last until further notice.
We have explored many other options to deflate the credit economy and we have found this route to be the easiest and fairest way to resolve the problem for the time being. While this may seem like a set back, it has its advantages. In the long run, the prices to advertise on blogs will decline making advertising more affordable.
While we recognize your concerns, please understand that it is one of our goals to have a healthy Entrecard credit economy. This is a huge change we’re making and we will continue to monitor the credit economy. We will continue to make changes as necessary to accommodate a healthy Entrecard economy. This update is one that I totally disagree with and is the reason I plan to post a second post about Entrecard soon. I hope that this update is removed as it may cause me to leave the network as I will loose a huge number of EC each and everyday.
