Entrecard – Should you stay ?

Okay well with all of the changes to Entrecard many people are starting to question their futures at Entrecard. I myself am considering leaving the network in the next month or so.

However without leaving instantly I believe their are a number of things which will happen to try and fix the issues which have been discovered by the new owners.

The first thing that I believe will change will be the no received credits for other users clicking. I honestly believe that they will reinstate this system but add a tax to it. PErhaps even a system such as "you must click 50 to recieve your return click points".
I hope that I am right about this and they do sort it as this is causing everyone to loose hundreds of points and is stopping them buying ads at certain prices (higher).

The second thing i believe will happen is that all ads will go down on average. Ads that are currently 500+ EC may come down to around 500 EC and lower as their will be less users able to buy the higher prices.

With these large users also recieve less income i think that they will buy less ads which will also make ad prices drop.

If both these things or atleast one was to happen I would say that staying with Entrecard is a must but as it is I think that everyone should give the changes a month to see how they will affect the community, then make decisions from there.

  1. Why did you join EC? Was it to earn points or was it to get traffic?

I joined to get traffic and to find interesting blogs, and it works fine for that. All this points stuff and other rubbish is hardly relevant. If you’re concentrating on these things, then perhaps you’re in it for the wrong reasons.

  2. I joined Entrecard to use it as an advertising platform. As this is the case I need to points from my visitors clicks.

I do enjoy visiting other people blogs via Entrecard but do not have time to visit 300 a day. This is really why I miss the extra points. I do not feel I am in it for the wrong reason at all and I can see no justification for your belief of this.

Points = Ads Ads = What I Want

  3. I also joined EntreCard to get traffic. The way I get traffic is through advertising there. The way I pay for advertisements is with credits. I am now receiving 300 to 400 less credits a day which means that I am buying less advertisements, and getting less traffic.

Clearly, the value of EntreCard has decreased, and I’m advertising there less. We shall see how much longer I stick around.

As to credit inflation and the high price of ads, from my analysis so far, the price of ads is not budging for the high end sites. Instead it is the smaller sites that ads cost less than 100 credits that are getting hit by the decrease in credits available for ads.

  4. Aldon,
Nice to see you on LM-BLOG again. You were clearly earning alot more than I was from drops but well I just totalled everything (not including today) and so far in September i have lost 625 EC.

Which means I am going to loose roughly 2343 EC this month.

I hadnt realised it was quite this drastic but well that is roughly 9 * 256 ads. Alot of ads to loose out on.

I have not really analysed the ad prices yet but will take your word for it. This is actually making it seem alot worse for me.

I will stay until the end of October then I will make my decision. I will document it for LM-BLOG users.

  5. Well maybe you are doing less advertising, but you are still getting points surely? Thus any advertising you are getting is still free, in the sense that it’s not paid for by cash.

So a bit is better than nothing I assume.

    On a *slightly* different topic:

How many clicks do you usually get from your adverts? I believe that EC is actually *not* very cost effective in terms of advertising on other blogs. Yes, it does drive some traffic in, but there’s a reasonable chance that the incoming person would have visited anyway, if it’s an EC dropper. I’m fairly sure, without doing an in depth analysis, that most of mine come from return drops or so on, and not advertisements I place.

I also believe that cheap 2 and 4EC blogs are probably more cost-effective than 4000EC adverts. A 2EC blog will likely get at least one visit, even if it’s only the blog owner checking it out. How many visits will a 4k blog get? As a percentage, not that much I think.

Extending this example: if I spent 4k on 2000x2EC blogs, I’m sure there would be many more visits than 1x4000EC blog.

Gosh look at me rambling. The above is all speculation, but I believe the logic is fair enough, though I’m not sure there are 2k 2EC blogs out there, and of course it would take a lot more time to place ads on them all! lol

This input box needs to be bigger by the way. Why are all these message boxes always so darned small?
