Search Engine – Load Test – Who is the best ?
Okay as promised here is my comparison of Bing and the other leaders of the search engine world. I had hoped to do a top ten search engine comparison but after realising the top 4 had a combined market share of 99% I chose to do just a top 4comparison.
Bellow are the 4 search engines and their market shares as at August 2009.
Google … 70.29%
Yahoo … 16.96%
Bing … 9.44%
Ask … 2.37%
I have chosen to show the top four so you can really see just how much of a difference there is between rank 1 and 4.
Okay the results of my load test were really what I expected to see. Google being the fastest loader and Yahoo being a much slower loader and coming in last.

Sony Entertainment has announced it is reducing the price of its PlayStation 3 games consoles.
In Europe the price has been lowered to 299 euros, in the US to $299 and in the UK to £249.99.
Sony made the announcement at a press conference ahead of the 2009 games convention – Games Com – in Cologne.
It also announced it was ending production of its current PlayStation 3 console in favour of a new lighter, slimmer model with a 120GB hard drive.

Growth of the PlayStation 3 has been slow compared to previous launches, which critics put down, in part, to an expensive price tag compared with its rivals, Microsoft’s Xbox 360 from £129 and the Nintendo Wii at £169.
Speaking at Games Com, Sony Entertainment’s head, Kaz Hirai, said the change in price for existing PlayStation 3 stock would happen immediately and that the new slim-line PS3 would be available from the first week of September.

Google constantly update and improve their services but recently it has been noticed that their search system was not getting much improvement and was beginning to fall behind on its features.
It was looking possible that someone else could create a system which may over throw Google from the number one spot. However Google have quietly been working on a new search system which they have nicknamed “Caffeine” for now.
Caffeine boosts Googles search results to a much higher number of results, all of which are a little more relevant. You may think that this means we are going to loose out on performance from the search giant but you would be wrong. It is roughly twice as fast as the current search system.
Google have made the service public at :

Technology ‘priority for Britons’
Britons are more willing to cut back on holidays and meals out than on spending on communication technology during the recession, an Ofcom review suggests.
The watchdog’s annual report says spending on mobiles, the internet and TV is regarded as a higher priority than almost anything except food.
In a poll of 862 people, over 40% said they would save on holidays and eating out and 19% chose spending on mobiles.
Ofcom’s Peter Phillips said people were “more canny” about paying for services.
The study also highlights a major rise in the use of social networking websites.
Some 19m people in the UK, 50% of internet users, visit Facebook, spending an average of six hours a month on the site, it says.
This is an increase from four hours in May 2008.
